Record breaking day for Solar PV
Friday 3rd July is set to produce the highest amount of solar energy this year. With the UK's solar capacity now at around 8GW, as much as 15% of our electricity needs could be provided by Solar PV today...
The number of Solar installations has surged since the Feed-in Tariff was introduced in April 2010. Payments for every unit of electricity generated and exported back to the grid have encouraged homeowners, businesses and others to install Solar. The number of new installations in the first quarter of 2015 alone has reached 1.6GW.
With cooler conditions predicted towards the end of the latest heatwave, the Solar Trade Association have estimated that around 15% of all electricity generated at 2pm today could come from Solar.
